Pearl Harbor Tours

First Phase of USS Arizona Memorial Center Open

The first phase of a new USS Arizona Memorial Visitor Center is open to visitors. It includes a new bookstore an education and research center, a snack bar, administrative offices and ticketing facilities for all the other World War II-era attractions. These include the USS Arizona Memorial: the USS Bowfin Museum, USS Missouri Memorial and Pacific Aviation Museum-Pearl Harbor.

The new center is designed to improve the visitor experience and comfort. A 23-minute movie about the Pearl Harbor attack will be shown in temporary facilities until the primary facility for the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center is complete.

  1. Stan Cohen says:

The new museum is great, however one big error. On the large map showing the extent of Japanese occupations in the Pacific, it shows a line around the Aleutian Island of Atka. Not true-they only occupied two main islands-Attu and Kiska and by August 1943 all Japanese forces were driven from the Aleutians. Atka still has a crashed B-24 on shore and is included in the Nat Park Service WWII cultural resources area of the islands, but was NEVER occupied by them.
